    Notes:

It is know that two of Timothy Terrell's children were twins and it is believed that they were Arron and Moses Terrell. There is some speculation that the twins are Aaron and Simon, but Simon was born in 1755 and it appears Aaron is younger. Moses and Aaron were named as Revolutionary War soldiers of Chatham County, NC. They served in Captain Turner's Company under the command of Col. McDowell, 15 Mar to 30 Jul 1779. (Roster of NC Soldiers of the Revolution, p.597) Before 1790, the two brothers moved to Franklin County, Georgia. But Georgia and South Carolina re-established the border at the Tugaloo River, and Moses and Arron Terrell were in Pendleton County, South Carolina, in the 1790 census. Both Aaron and his wife and some of their children and grandchildren are burried at the old family cemetary, not for from their home and not far from the Tugaloo River. There are about 25 graves, but no dates can be deciphered on the stones marking the graves of Aaron and Hannah. (Dicken, p.253)

Generation: 3

  1. 4.  Timothy TERRELL was born about 1720 in New Kent County, Virginia (son of William TERRELL and Susanna WATERS); died in Feb 1763 in Orange County, NC.

    Notes:

Timothy Terrell was in the Caroline-New Kent part of Virginia thru about 1741 (when he witnessed a deed there).
About 1743, Timothy and his brother moved to North Caroline, about the time of their father's, William's, death. Timothy first settled in Bladen County. He petitioned for 600 acres at a council held at Newbern 10 Apr 1745. In 1749, he was appointed a Bladen County Justice of the Peace (Dicken, p.232).
In 1751, Orange County county was formed. It seems likely that Timothy Terrell didn't move. It appears that part of Bladen County in which he lived became part of Orange County. Whatever the case, he became an Orange County resident about that time. (After his death, that part of Orange County became part of Chatham County).
The land records show the Earl of Granville granted Timothy Terrell 400 acres of land on 06 Sep 1754 on the head brances of Terrell Creek (Bk. 12, p.49). In 1756, he got additional land on Terrell Creek, a tributary of the Haw River. Altogether the record shows him with more than 2,000 acres.

Generation: 4

  1. 8.  William TERRELL was born in 1667 in New Kent Co, Virginia (son of Richmond TERRELL and Elizabeth UNK); and died.

    Notes:

William Terrell lives in the part of New Kent that became Hanover Co. He lived on the South Side of the Pamunkey River, near the junction of the North Anna and South Anna Rivers, in an area called "the forks."
We should note that some historians believe this William (the one who marries Susannah Waters) is in fact the William we show as RIN #1618, the brother of Richmond Terrell.
We believe that William probably didn't stay in Virginia, but returned to England.
Emma Dicken offers an entire chapter to proof that this William is the son of Richmond and not his brother.

William married Susanna WATERS. Susanna (daughter of John WATERS and Ann LLOYD) was born on 11 Nov 1667; and died. [Group Sheet]
