    • William Henry Harrison Terrell moved with his parrents to Columbus, Indiana, while an infant. He lived there until he was 14. In November 1845, he worked as a copiest in the County Records office. He then clerked for the Railroad. In 1847, he was deputy Auditor of Bartholemew County. He later edited a newspaper, the "Columbus Gazette." About 1849 her served Columbus, Indiana, as: Deputy Clerk and Recorder, County School Commissioner and County Librarian, and Town Treasurer. He studied Law and was admitted to the bar. And in 1857 he was a cashier in a Bank. By 1864, he was Adjutant General for the State of Indiana, with the rank of Colonel. In May 1869, President Grant appointed him Third Assistant Postmaster General, where he served four years. (Dicken, p.201)
