  • Notes 
    • Richard P. Terrell moved to Caswell County, NC with his parents in about 1837. He became a saddle-maker and operated a farm and store in Republican Grove, Virginia. Others described him as a harness maker.

      In the 1850 census, he is shown as 27 years old, and is listed as a "saddlr."

      During the Civil war, when troops were being transfered, he got off the train and walked home. The Army listed him as missing. He rportedly dressed as a woman and even wore a bonnet. One record says he eventually went back into the Army.
