    • Donavon L, Jackson was enlisted in the U. S. Army Signal Corp. on Dec. 11, 1942. Ho took his basic training at Camp Crowder, Mo, After 6 weeks he was sent to Athens, Ga. to radio school. Five months later he was sent to Salt Lake City, Utah for reassignment. Ho was assigned to the 341st Signal Company of the 15th A. A. F. at Hammer Field in Fresno, California until Dec. 7, 1943 when the company was shipped overseas to Naples, Italy, on to Bari, Italy, then Foggia, Italy where he spent the rest of his overseas duty. After seventeen months of foreign duty,, he was shipped back to Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas, as a radio Instructor until his discharge on October 5, 1945.
      While in service he received five battle stars., three ribbons, and held the following ranks: P.F.C., Technecian 5th grade, Technecian 4th, & Sergeant. [1]
