A James B Goddard was buried at Old Smryna in 1887. His stone indicates that he left this world by being murdered. Tilman C Justice/Justis took Goddard’s life because he thought Goddard had been telling the government about his corn whiskey operation. A shotgun was used and Goddard was beat with the stock of the shotgun after being shot in the face.
