    • Judge Alexander Watkins Terrell was a graduate of the University of Missouri Law School. He parcticed law in Missouri until 1852, when he moved to Austin, Texas. At the outbreak of the Civil War, he resigned as a District Judge, to raise a cavalry Regiment. He was in many battles and was eventually promoted to Brigadier General. Under the first Cleveland Administration, Judge Terrell was appointed "Minister to Turkey" (1903). Judge Terrell was the author of Texas' election laws, known as the Terrell Election Laws. He served in the House of Representatives for 4 years and in the senate for 10. His life size portrait hangs in the Texas State Capitol. He was married three times. We do not know the names of his wives on which was the mother of the children listed here. (Dicken, p.174-5)
