Letters from Mr. Aurel Eller of Munich, Germany
Letters from Mr. Aurel Eller of Munich, Germany
Letters dated 1957 which attempt to pinpoint the origins in Germany of the Eller/Öhler family.

  • Notes
    • Mr. Aurel Eller (Groffstrasse 3, Munich, Germany) wrote to the author's grandfather saying the Eller-family comes from an area east of Lake Constance at the foot of "the Herschberg."
He says the settlers in the area may have been Schweben (Sweedish) who, in turn, descend from the German race.
"One of these setlers with the forename Ello, and his family, cleared land in an opening in the forest, at the foot of the Hirschberg. That clearing became the ancestral home of the Ellers."
The Hirschberg is a 5,479-foot mountain peak East of Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen' It is only about 5 miles north of Austria, and is about 20 miles south of Munich.
    • Generations before Michael Öhler fall into the area of speculation.
Research by Domer Huffman says Michael Öhler's father was Hans Eller (born between 1550 and 1650) and his father was Mathias Eller. Hoffman, however, believes Christian Eller was NOT the son of George Michael Eller, but the son of Paul Casper Eller. [2]
